Midfield maestro Andès Iniesta has been holidaying with his family in La Mancha. He presented a biography titled “Un año en el paraíso” (A year in Paradise) on Sunday in Hellin, Albacete. The event was organized by la Cofradía del Prendimiento, and the drummers of the group asked Iniesta to try his hand at drumming. The midfielder obliged, and donned the robes and gave the drums a go:
When asked about the historic season, he responded: “What we have experienced this year at Barca is something historic, unsurpassed in terms of titles. Now we have to enjoy it and try again.”
He also raved about his coach Pep Guardiola: “The titles speak for themselves. He is very hardworking, he deserves these results.”
Meanwhile sensation Pedro Rodriquez was involved in a charity match organized by Vitolo, who plays for the Greek outfit POAK.
His aspirations for 2010? “I hope everything remains the same, without injury, and hopefully we can win many titles again.”
He added that he was “very glad to have achieved everything I have achieved with Barcelona. I am enjoying the many opportunities that I’ve been given and I am really happy. ”
Lionel Messi has been enjoying his Christmas holiday back home in Rosario, Argentina. He however, has been seldom spotted. He has been spending his time at his parents house, with those dearest to him. As it is summer is Argentina, he’s enjoyed the sunbathing, swimming and lighting of firecrackers, which is a Christmas tradition in Argentina.
He was interviewed by SPORT.es, and his 2010 message was: “My wish for 2010 is to keep winning titles with Barcelona. I never tire of winning and I don’t think I ever will ”
“What more can I ask for? No doubt I want to continue to grow as a footballer because I am of those who thinks that there is always room for improvement. I appreciate how spectacular this past year has been and I wish to give thanks for everything I have experienced, it has been unforgettable.”
Messi, humble as always, tried to downplay his recent individual honours: “The truth is that I feel same desire to play and win, but with the pride of having received such important awards. It’s very big, I will not deny that, but I know that the biggest mistake would be to lose humility. I am very young and I know that I still have many things ahead. ”
Lio also again paid tribute to his Barca team mates: “I am nothing without the team, without my wonderful companions, they are unbelievable. What I have always made very clear is the fact that the collective achievements of the team are more important than the individual ones.”
He also spoke of his family: “I am happy to be with my family because they are people whom I know I’ll always have, through the good and the bad; through thick and thin. They are everything to me. So for me it is very special to be with them in Rosario and to close the year with those I love most. They know perfectly well that they are very important to me. ”
And not wanting to forget anyone, he thanked the whole of Barcelona, a city very dear to his heart as well as his former manager: “I have always felt privileged here. All the people that have passed through my life have been very instrumental to where I am now, but I want to thank especially Frank Rijkaard, who was always confidant in my ability and gave me the opportunity to break into the first team”
Lio will be returning to Barcelona on the 29 December.
