Blaugrana Blitz: FC Barcelona 5(6)-0 Levante, a “Fab” performance

Pep decided to start against Levante with Valdés, Mascherano, Puyol, Abidal, Xavi, Cesc, Busquets, Iniesta, Cuenca, Alexis and Messi. Missing from the line-up was birthday David Villa, who still managed a few smiles for the camera. Cesc Fabregas’ new haircut proved lucky for him as he netted a brace with goals also coming from Cuenca, Alexis and Messi. Iniesta’s perfectly legit goal was disallowed. But ’tis cool, a 5 goal margin is still good enough. The ref also gave Victor Valdes a yellow in the last 2 minutes of the game (for only God knows what). The keeper also managed to keep his clean sheet record at home this season intact. Worryingly, Puyol was subbed in the first half after he received a knock to the head and then had visual problems. Hopefully he’ll be back to his usual self in full caveman glory in el Clasico. Barca remain within 3 points of Real Madrid as Madrid won their match against Sporting, Madrid also have a game in hand. Although not 100% fluent like we’re used to, it was still a convincing and efficient job. I think we’re ready for el Clasico.

  1. They looked pretty SWEET tonight… I love when our goals are spread out across several teammates. It just exemplifies our teamwork and the fact that every Barca player can be a defender, midfielder, OR striker! Wish Iniesta’s had counted, but at least he can be credited with some exceptional passes (touches? backheels? whatever you call the genius he does with his feet). Too bad Villa didn’t get to play (and score!) on his birthday. I’m getting incredibly nervous about next week… I truly feel like it could go either way. : /

    1. While I feel like the “Manita” yesterday was exemplary, I’m also very scared abt next week. Real are in top form. Which team are u backin for the win?

      1. I honestly believe that this could be RM’s game. That they could beat us by a good margin. And yet, with the same breath, I’ll admit that it would not surprise me in the least if we were to win, because in my (limited) experience, that’s what Barca does. Honestly, (and I’m just starting to think this through for a new post…) I’m just hoping for an awesome game that displays all the qualities of the sport that I’ve come to love… tenacity, teamwork, athleticism, excitement, mad skills, and passion. If they would just throw in some mutual respect for the opponent I would be a happy camper no matter how it goes down. Although, because of the point issue, Barca really needs this win! So as always, completely torn!
