Blaugrana Blitz: Rooney Rumours intensify, Training Pictures & more

The “Wayne Rooney to Barcelona” rumours have intensified. This time, it seems Wayne Rooney is the one wanting Barca. The England striker has been in regular contact with former Manchester United team mate Gerard Pique, and the centre back has told Rooney good things about Barca. The two share a great relationship, as when Pique moved to Manchester United, Rooney was one of those who helped him intergrate into the English life, Rooney would often invite Pique to poker nights at his house!

Barca have been looking for someone to play in the left flank, and Rooney is the perfect candidate. Roo himself is a big fan of Barca, and after the Champions League final last season, he declared that he thought that Iniesta was the best player!

United are said to be in financial problems and need to have a “clearance sale,” but with Ronaldo gone, would they really want to sell Rooney?

Xavi has backed his coach by saying: “I can’t imagine Barca without Pep. He’s the fundamental element in this machine. I think his contract renewal is imminent, but it’s all down to him.”

“We all want him to stay, but that’s down to him. To him and the board. I think he’ll stay and that he’s happy here and feels important to the club. He seems happy at work and shows the same enthusiasm he had at the start. He’s maybe the best manager the club has ever had, and he’s only been here for a season”.

Another 10,000 liked the news feed about his birthday. Pep personally thanked the fans via Facebook: “I’m really moved and surprised to see so many best wishes. Thank you so much to everybody”.
