FC Barcelona: Today’s news round-up

Eric Abidal and Rafa Marquez are both on the brink of signing new contracts with Barcelona.

Victor Valdes is hoping Ronaldo is fit for “el clasico” next week. The Barca No. 1 said: “The big players have to always play in the big games, and personally, I’ve always liked playing against the great.”

Xavi has expressed how pleased he is with coach Guardiola: “He is committed, meticulous, enthusiastic person. He has such a tremendous conviction in his belief and the ability to transmit all of his energy to you.” He went on to describe Pep and how he works: “He is very calm to be honest. He does not push too many things on you, his emphasis is on encouraging the players to enjoy themselves on the pitch and making the most of the privileged lives that we have.”

Meanwhile Bojan spoke about the past 3 years with the Bara first team. He revealed that he’s not the same person he was 3 years ago, that he’s learnt a lot and developed as a player and a person.When asked about the lack of playing oppertunities (he hasn’t featured in Barca’s last 3 matches)he said that he’s not worried as Barca are involved in a lot of matches and playing oppertunities will come his way.

Other Barca Babies – Thiago and dos Santos will be offered new deals with the Catalan giants. Both of the youngsters contracts run out at the end of the season , and Guardiola is keen to tie them both to the club for a few more years.

And finally, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent has declared that Zla’s long term future at the club is not guarenteed, hinting at a possible return to Inter before he finishes his career.
