Fernando Torres: “Number Nine” & the “True Story”

Fernando Torres who was vehemently booed when Spain faced off with England at Wembley, says he expects the abuse to be a lot worse on Sunday when the Reds visit Stamford Bridge. He also insinuated that the Liverpool fans don’t know the full story of the transfer to Chelsea, claiming there was two sides to the story. He also claims that “no one understood me like Rafa Benitez.”

The man who let down his Kop followers by transferring to Chelsea mid-last season hasn’t quite moved into second gear for the Blues’. With only 2 goals in the Premier League this season, he will be desperate to prove his price-tag. To be honest, when he left Liverpool I was devastated, I wondered how he’s stroll into Stamford Bridge with “You’ll Never Walk Alone” tattooed  on his left arm. But his failure to impact with Chelsea and the introduction of Suarez on our side made the pain easier. I can’t help but wonder is he had stayed and paired up with Suarez, what a force the two of them would have made?

The Cover of Torres' new book "Number Nine"

Now Torres is releasing his second book “Number Nine” soon. The cover is quite different from that of his first, which has a very much Reds feel to it. The book is supposedly filled with memories, and the star says it’s not the last book he will write as there are too many stories to tell. I wonder if he’ll give any sordid details of this “full story” we don’t know about (x-ref: Ibrahimovic’s bitch-fest in his book. For a nice summary of his whinnings read: Zlatan’s Back).

In a press conference earlier this week, the former Atletico boy said  “Atlético is my home and I will always feel that way because it taught me how to grow and the values of my life.”

Always trying to stay away from controversy, Nando…
