Blaugrana Blitz: Pep’s squad for Sevilla, training pictures

Pep’s men have been preparing for their cup tie with Sevilla. After playing on Sunday night, they did not stay over at the Canary Islands, but were on a plane back to Barca at 12.30 a.m, a mere hour and a half after they beat Tenerife! Word has it, that instead of sleeping in the 3 hour flight, Pep was watching the dvd of their loss to Sevilla and making notes! Such is his determination to make amends for their loss! (If you cannot recall, Barca were defeated by Sevilla 2-1 at home.)

Some sentiments echoed by Pep about the situation: “We accept the challenge. We want to get to the quarters, and continue playing in the Cup, so we will try.”

“We have overcome many adverse situations. We will put out our best team to try andf turn the tie.”

Remaining true to his word, his squad that will travell to Sevilla today: Valdés, Pinto, Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Milito, Txigrinski, Abidal, Maxwell, Busquets, Jonathan, Thiago, Xavi, Iniesta, Bojan, Pedro, Henry, Ibrahimovic and Messi

Marquez is being rested. Ibra is back after missing the Tenerife match (serving a ban). It will be hard for Pep to ignore Bojan after that performance over the weekend.

(For the stalkers out there: the team leaves Barcelona at 11 am and will arrive in Sevilla at 12.30. They will be based at the Hotel Alfonso XIII until game time. They will not stay over, but fly back to Barcelona after the game.)

The father of Sergio Canales has hinted that Barcelona have contacted them.

“I will not go into the details, but it is clear that from the 30th June, he is free (to sign)”

The Racing Santander wonderkid has been the recent target of Real Madrid:

“Several teams have approached us, and we will take the next steps. This is a very important time in Sergio’s career. It is very clear however that Sergio will play for a big team.”

He also confirmed that when Sergio was 12 both Barca and Real came calling: “when he was 12 there was contact with Barcelona and Real Madrid. It was difficult. We couldn’t move without knowing what would come off it. It was a gamble.”

The squad trained on Tuesday. They’re still all “beanies & gloves.”
Reserves Gai and Víctor Vázquez joined their fellow teamates Thiago Alcántara and Jonathan dos Santos in the training. I just love how Pep has been giving the youngsters oppertunities, whether its playing time, or just exposing them to first team training.
