The Spanish National Team were honoured this week. The World Cup winning squad are busy preparing for their international friendly against Portugal in Las Rozas. A ceremony was held to commemorate their achievements in South Africa.
The dignitaries included FIFA president Sepp Blatter, The Spanish football federation members, Spanish football players and coaching staff.
The ceremony also showed the unveiling of the new Spain team shirt, which has the “coat of world champions” badge on the front.
Said Blatter: “I am proud to present the shield to the Spanish team that certifies them as world champions. They will wear this in the coming years.
“I am thrilled to be with you today. Spain were the best team, a team that really played football and came to every game with the intention of winning. For the next four years we have a worthy champion in this Spanish team.”
Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano was also present and said: “Winning the World Cup has been a tremendous success for Spain, and we are pleased to have achieved this feat.”
