Tidbits: Macheda & Gerrard to Spain, Bellamy to Arsenal?

Manchester United
Reports from England claim that United kid Frederico Macheda could play in Real Zaragoza colours next season. Although Macheda played a handful of games for United last season, he has found his playing time limited this season. Newcastle are also interested in the youngster, but Ferguson would prefer to let him go on loan to Zaragoza, where he feels Macheda will have more opportunity to develop.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard is being linked with Barca in the wake of the disastrous season which has already seen the Reds eliminated in the group stages of the Champions League, as well as their Premier League chances diminished. Liverpool’s struggle now is to ensure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Barcelona and Madrid are considered to be the clubs in the running for Gerrard’s signature should Liverpool fail to secure a European spot.

There have been similar rumours relating to Fernando Torres.

In Transfer News, Liverpool are said to want to offload Babel, Voronin & Dossena in order to fund the purchase of West Ham’s Carlton Cole and Palace winger Victor Moses. Babel is wanted by Bayern Munich, Voronin by Panthaniakos and Dossena to Napoli.

Arsenal are planning a shock move for Craig Bellamy. He has been unsettled at Manchester City and was aggrevated by the sacking of mark Hughes. It is reported that he handed in his transfer request last night.

Arsenal manager Wenger has been fretting since it emerged that Robin van Persie will be out for the rest of the season, and he looks to Bellamy as the ideal replacement. Bellamy was not started by Mancini in yeaterday’s win over Stoke. He was brought on in the 70th minute to replace Robinho. Mancini however maintains that there is no tension between himself and Bellamy: “Bellamy is my friend. I have spoken with him this week and again two days ago and there are no problems with him.

“All the players are happy. I have spoken to them and they are all 100 per cent.

Chelsea have denied all rumours suggesting that they will replace keeper Petr Cech. Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon, CSKA Moscow’s Igor Akinfeev and Lyon’s Hugo Lloris are all reported to have caught Ancelotti’s eye. It was suspected that a move could’ve been made for one of them in the January trasfer window. Chelsea have labelled the talk as “rubbish.”
